This script takes a fic's wordcount and your WPM and calculates the readtime in hours and minutes, and then displays it in the fic's decsription. This can be done automatically (default), or toggled to manual and then run from a dropdown added to the AO3 header menu.

Edit the script to add your WPM (Default: 375), toggle autorun on pageload, and adjust or disable the background colors.
