Hey! Glad the script is working for you. However, what you described seems to be opposite to my intended implementation. It should be the case that there are buttons for you to click on to change your setting and that the code editor should generally be avoided. Could you specify what you were referring to by "Settings" and "editor", and also specify the interaction in more detail? I want to make sure it's not a bug.
ElectroKnight22 - re: this comment back in the day: I must've missed something then, nvm!
Been chuffed with your work, EK.
Thank you. 🙏 (PS: orig dev pushed updates 2wk ago, small things, as you might've seen--mentioning in case any inspiration was in those changes 🙂)
I saw his update and is honoured to be mentioned by the guy, but so far his new updates have yet to address any of the issues that this one fixed. Even if we choose to not consider the various QoL features and edge-case fixes my script added, his script is still using a broken Premium Bitrate implementation.
I was a user of his script for years, but YouTube's updates seems to have outpaced his script's. While I am still hopeful that he will make the script up-to-date soon, I unfortunately would not consider his script (as of v2025.04.13) to be good enough.
To put it simply, his recent updates have 0 overlap with any changes I made, nor has he been made any fixes/improvements that I suggested him since June of 2024. So no, it seems that so far none of his new update changes were inspired by me.
oop *"in case any of the changes in the original might inspire an update of your own", but phrased correctly or not I would've doubted it: your script is simply FLAWLESS for my purposes.
While I've never thought "I could use resolution-matching size adjustment", glad folks who want that have an option! (Either at cost of Premium Bitrates, or free users or those with small pipes who have to settle for lower quality to reduce bandwidth consumption.)
Thank you so much 😃 Almost a year of time/frustration savings I owe you!

btw you make any robotic iHands to tap the stupid screen, gear icon, quality, advanced, then the highest available quality? 😆 I love that people who settle for "auto" quality subsidize my premium subscription, but can't stand those taps as a PAYING customer esp. after a long day clacking a keyboard. Guess I should use Safari with an extension or two, or buy a phone I can act like I own and install a third-party app with no compromises (Safari YouTube just ain't the same as the more privacy&user-disrespecting app!) /soapbox
Look, you owe me nothing. I chose to make my scripts free and open-sourced because I believed these simple features should have been added by YouTube in the first place. I made them for myself initially, and there is no reason why I should keep them to myself if I have scripts that can be widely useful.
I'm glad the script is working well for you, and sorry if I came across as upset in the comment above, no negative emotion was directed towards you.
Can we clone you to achieve instant world peace--cheers 💙
Thank you so much for reviving the old script and bringing this to the world for free. Works perfectly!
I initially looked in Settings to find the quality settings, but once I realized they weren't there, it took two seconds to find them in the editor. Excellent!
Thanks 🙂
