The feature you’re referring to is actually called Preferred Region, and Im currently working on it! There are still quite a few bugs so I don't think it will be released in the next update.
Also, if you are noticing that filtering 1,000 servers takes a couple of minutes, you are probably using Tampermonkey. There is a bug with Tampermonkey that can slow down region based server searching by up to 100x.
I recommend switching to Violentmonkey, or if you are using Chrome, use ScriptCat. That should speed things up a lot and 1,000 servers should be filtered in around 10 seconds with these other extensions.
And make sure Fast Search is enabled in the settings, or you won't get the speed boost!
To enable it:
Settings → General → Fast Server Search

Just a suggestion, with the "Join best connection" I would love to see a option to continuously find a specific server with a region of your choosing. For Eg, if I pick the Au, it will keep searching untill it finds a Au server. The join best connection feature is good, but it doesnt search long enough, my experience it keeps putting me in Singapore servers. I do just end up waiting a couple of minutes for 1000 servers to load to get my Au server.
