Skip Countdown, Auto Download, and More for Nexus Mods. Supports (Manual/Vortex/MO2/NMM)
I haven't used Vortex in months so I'm not super familiar with all this, I do remember encountering this a couple years back though without using any scripts or so. Does this only happen when the script is enabled? And if so, do the devtools console logs indicate anything about multiple attempts at starting a download?
I will try to look into this once I find the time, thanks
I confess that I haven't disabled the script to confirm it's involved, but the timing when I started using it and when the problem started had me making the assumption. I will have to be more thorough.
I will test this out soon once I find the time to mess around with vortex soon, as it could be a still be a problem with the script though, thanks
You're not wrong to consider that it might be unrelated, since I didn't confirm its involvement first... and I know better with my experience.
I've been messing around with my Fallout 76 installation which uses a mod-list of around 80~ mods in vortex which I updated as required,
I only seemed to get this error once when I downloaded the wrong file seemingly and actually had to replace it for some map mod,
the rest of the mods worked as expected so I'm not really sure what is happening for you but I am not able to reproduce this on my end, if I do run into it though I will try to diagnose if anything in the script is causing it but right now I can't seem to get this issue except the one time I manually messed up a file.
If the issue stops without the script and reappears when you use it though, I'd need console logs from the script or so to find if it's an issue with the script, because on my end I don't get this (well, atleast today it worked fine w updates & dls). Thanks !
I'm also using a NexusMods-specific browser extension, NexusMods Advance. I acquired it from NexusMods: https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/1018.
Is there possibly a conflict there that could lead to this behavior?
I just disabled it and that might have eliminated the behavior. I'm not sure if I perfectly recreated the necessary conditions, so I need to watch it. But if the extension is open source then perhaps you can confirm or deny?
The author is very cooperative, so I think it's possible I can have my cake and still eat it.

That option if enabled would certainly count as a duplication of effort, wouldn't it? It seems that I've lost the ability to keep a firm grasp on what all of my software does. For the moment I've just disabled that option. At least you're aware that there's a potential conflict now? Yep, glad I could help! *shrug*
That does sound like it may be the cause, as both are trying to do the same thing and that could end up causing two downloads.
I've never used this extension before,
but it may be possible to make my script more compatible with it to avoid issues like this once I take the time to look through how the extension works. I'll try to see what I can do once I have the time
Your userscript apparently also does some things that the author of the extension backed away from doing after being "persuaded" by Black Tree Gaming (I was told this), so that may be sufficient reason to keep the userscript enabled and that one feature of the extension disabled.

Hm,
I'm probably going to rewrite/refactor a good amount of my script soon though as it's gotten rather large due to having to implement a bunch of fallbacks in the past as quick-fixes when nexus updates broke everything for some people, I'll probably try to evaluate compatibility with other scripts or extenders at this point as I feel like I am due for a refactor and it would be a fitting time, without compromising on my features of course, thanks
I seem to be encountering an issue with use of this script: when attempting to upgrade a mod from within Vortex, Vortex ends up attempting to download the mod twice and spitting a File already exists error and asking if I want to Continue? I cancel that and it has retained the first download for upgrading.
